AIR2 LED Luminaire, London

Transport for London sought to replace 150W High Pressure Sodium      (SON-T) deep bowl units with energy and maintenance-saving LEDs.

Existing 10m columns and 1m brackets had to be used and set to switch at 35:18 Lux, with CMS compatibility in place for future linking.  Two INDO AIR2 lantern intensities were specified; 6klm and 8klm units.

Located along a densely populated and very busy high street with a consistent flow of commuters, shoppers and traffic, the client was very keen that the new lighting would improve both the retail scene as well as public safety in the area.  Design requirements of the scheme were to achieve C3 lighting class with 15 lux average and 40% uniformity whilst making the maximum possible energy and carbon savings.

As a result of the project, the client achieved a total annual energy saving of 82% and a further 84% reduction in annual maintenance costs
