Project Detail

The lighting outside a purpose-built retirement housing estate in Springfield, North London is now bright, safe and welcoming thanks to investment from Hackney Borough Council into new, energy-saving LED lanterns.

Lea View House is a large, lively community hub with shared gardens and a range of social facilities to enable supported, yet independent living for the over 55’s.  Street lighting around the estate was renewed to LED on a direct “one for one” basis, installing all-new luminaires in the same column locations as the original SON fittings.  New, 4m stepped black columns with internal hinges also replaced the previous multi-coloured ones.  Together with the black finish and clear bowl of the INDO RADIUS, this creates a smart, unified look.

A popular amenity lantern, the RADIUS was selected here for its similar styling to the previous fitting, allowing the client to match the original look, feel and aesthetic balance of the estate.  A warm white colour temperature of 3000k significantly improves the ability to detect colours and objects.  7-pin NEMA connections mean the customer has a future-proofed lantern that provides simplified installation, standardised dimming compatibility and a system that’s fully operational using the same public highway Telemanagement system as the borough’s remaining 11000 street lights.

Not only do they look good, the performance is fantastic

The team has been very happy with the technical aspects of the product, particularly the output, optical distribution, glare control and low energy use
