Kier Highways manages the A23 trunk road corridor as part of its highways services portfolio in the south-east. INDO supplied the AIR2 Direct Drive luminaire for sections of the route, replacing legacy high-pressure-sodium units on existing columns.
Like the M2 Medway scheme delivered for the same client, the brief required a low-windage, low-weight unit that could swap onto the existing columns without major civils work. The AIR2 Direct Drive platform delivers that – under 8 kg with no separate driver, simplifying lifecycle maintenance and reducing column loading. Removing the driver also removes the highest lifetime failure point in a conventional LED luminaire: there is no mid-life driver replacement scheduled across the design life of the asset.
