INDO supplied the ION Road luminaire to the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral for streetlighting upgrades within the borough.
ION Road is a driverless residential and main-road LED running at up to 220 lm/W, weighing under 2 kg – engineered with post top and side entry, a range of controls and, with a 25-year design life and a 15-year warranty. The Direct Drive architecture removes the single highest lifecycle failure point in a conventional LED streetlight, and means no scheduled mid-life driver maintenance for the duration of the asset’s design life.
For Wirral, the lower whole-life cost and the lighter unit weight reduce both the maintenance overhead and the structural load on existing columns – important on routes where columns are at or near the upper end of their service life. The luminaire is NEMA / CMS-ready for future central-management integration without a column return.
