INDO Technologies Ltd Acquires INDO Lighting Ltd Business and Assets
On 20th December 2024, INDO Technologies Ltd successfully purchased the business and assets of INDO Lighting Ltd, as part of a pre-packaged administration, marking an exciting new chapter for the INDO brand. This acquisition ensures continuity for customers and employees and provides a strong foundation for future growth and innovation.
Background: INDO’s Covid-19 Legacy
During the Covid-19 pandemic, INDO Lighting collaborated with the University of Southampton and the NHS to develop and manufacture over 10,000 powered air-purifying respirators. These devices provided life-saving protection to frontline healthcare workers and were sold to the NHS at significantly below market rates to support the national pandemic response. This initiative exemplified INDO’s core values and commitment to putting the public interest ahead of profit.
Although this effort was successful, higher-than-expected costs and a significant surplus of stock remaining after the initial surge in demand created a lasting financial burden for the business. These challenges, compounded by a series of unforeseen events in late 2024, ultimately led to the decision to proceed with the sale of the business and assets to INDO Technologies Ltd.
Protecting Jobs and Ensuring Continuity
In order to protect jobs and unfulfilled projects – the Directors and Shareholders acted decisively. The Shareholders and Directors accepted a full write-off of their investment and loans in INDO Lighting, appointing administrators to that business, whilst making a substantial new investment to establish INDO Technologies Ltd. This well-funded new entity promptly acquired the business and assets of INDO Lighting, safeguarding jobs, and ensuring the continuity of ongoing contracts.
This transition strengthens our ability to focus on what we do best – providing reliable, efficient, and forward-thinking lighting technology.
